Welcome to the next edition of  Founders & Funders: Climate Conversations!

For this edition, we are excited to welcome Mattijs Slee, CEO of Battolyser Systems, to share his vision of hydrogen for our future energy system. Today, the cost of green hydrogen remains too high for mass adoption, and further innovation and scale is needed to unlock the hydrogen economy. Battolyser Systems has merged with VDL Hydrogen Systems to develop a novel pressurized alkaline electrolyser to deliver the lowest cost hydrogen.

After graduation at Delft University of Technology, Mattijs worked on large scale energy projects around the world in various technical and business development roles at Shell. After his MBA at INSEAD, he worked as Investment Director at Shell Ventures and was subsequently responsible for developing a clean hydrogen business for Shell in Europe. Building onto these experiences, he is now the CEO of the leading Dutch industrial electrolyser developer.

‍

During this evening, we’ll dive into:

The bigger picture: why we need flexible hydrogen production to further develop renewable energy and lower production cost.

Driving the energy transition: Battolyser Systems decided to merge with VDL Hydrogen Systems

Mattijs’ personal journey: how Mattijs went from engineer on large scale energy projects to CEO of Battolyser Systems
